Today was Day 7 for Dad. The day the aneurysm happened was considered Day 0, and they count up from there. The worst day for spasms is supposed to happen around Day 7, so we're happy that he has come through that OK.
Although he hasn't had spasms, he was very unresponsive today. He hasn't been squeezing hands and has been sleeping pretty much all day. The nurses don't seem too concerned and say that is normal. It's hard to watch for the family, though...we'd love to have even baby steps forward at this point...and right now we're taking steps back again.
We are thankful he's stable though and that he's healing while he sleeps. They are thinking of taking the breathing tubes out tomorrow so I will be very interested to see how that goes.
We had a nice getaway last night thanks to my wonderful friend, Brandi. We were supposed to go away last weekend to Banff, for one last trip as a family of 4, but we decided we couldn't leave while Dad was in ICU. So she booked our family into the African Theme room at Fantasyland for a night as a consolation. The girls had SOOO much fun! It was a great time to hang out, make fun memories, and take our minds off of everything. And although we couldn't take the kids to Africa, it almost felt like we were there...but the commute was so much better. :-) Brandi, your thoughtfulness and generosity continues to amaze me. I am truly blessed to have you in my life!
Now we're back at it and running like mad. I did errands with the girls all day, had a quick visit at the girls' gymnastics with my wonderful friend Heidi, who also brought us supper (thanks, Heidi!!) -do you get the idea that food is one of my love languages?:-) , went to the hospital and now I'm deep into laundry. Less than 48 hours to go...I can't believe it!
